Environment

Energy is an important enabler for our progress and the need for energy is growing exponentially in developing economies like India. Nature’s fossil fuel resources such as coal, crude oil and natural gas that were formed over past thousands of years have been depleted over last few decades. Coal is predominantly located under dense forests, extraction of this critical source has led to depletion of these forest covers which are critical for our survival. Extracting petroleum and natural gas has resulted in imbalances in the earth’s crust. Thus tapping of these energy sources has resulted in systematic degradation of our environment.
In addition to extraction, burning of fossil fuels causes emissions of green houses such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. Pollutants such as sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds are also released, polluting the air and water. People staying in the vicinity of coal-based power projects have been suffering various health problems.

The need to adopt renewable energy sources such as Solar, Wind has become imperative considering that conventional power projects have short-term and long-term impact on living beings and environment. Sun radiation is in abundance across India and with the matured Photovoltaic technology available, the advantages of Solar power are immense. Energy generated from Sun with minimal impact to the environment is Persept Solar’s Choice.
